Juneteenth also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day is an annual celebration and commemoration of the day that slavery ended in the US. This holiday dates back to June 19, 1865 when Union soldiers told the people of Galveston, TX that slaves were now free thanks to the Emancipation Proclamation signed two years earlier. Ahhh its finally summer! Time for BBQ, pool parties, river trips and my favorite, banana pudding. Now I will say, this summer is no where like many of our typical summer thanks to COVID and although COVID has stopped much of the carefreeness of Summer 2020, I refuse to let it take away my favorite summer treats.
